In Memory

John S. Harwell - Class Of 1950

I received the card  addressed to John. Please be adviced he died in July 2010 while visiting his daughter in NJ.

He spoke often of his college experience at a rooming house. At the time African Americans were not allowed to live on campus and may have been segregated in the classrooms. Still he was able to represent that education through out his life. You may know of his friend that he visited often after he retired.

He came from a notable family in K.C., MO. His career and marriage took him first to Chicago as a teacher and Urban League officer. He worked in Administration at Harvard and Fisk Universities.

He is survived by 4 children, grand and great grandchildren.

Bettye W. Harwell
