Louis Henry Preston Mar. 19, 1937 ~ Feb. 22, 2011 Resident of Pinole Louie (Louis) Henry Preston was born to the late Hudie and Gracie Preston March 19, 1937 in Camden, Arkansas. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Brian Del Preston, his brother Lawrence Preston and a brother who was stillborn. Louis remained in Camden until his family relocated to Independence, Kansas in the mid 40's where he continued his formal education. He accepted Christ in his early teens becoming a charter member of Galilee Baptist Church in Independence, Kansas. Early in his school years he became very active in sports and excelled in basketball, his favorite activity. He graduated from his home town High School and Junior College, and then continued his education at Pittsburg (Kansas) State University obtaining a BA Degree in 1960, and a MSW from UC Berkeley in 1971. Louis started employment with the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency in l972, having a distinguished 25 year career; including numerous promotions, special recognitions, and the annual Public Managerial Excellence Award in 1992 from the City of San Francisco. He retired from the Agency in l997. Louis was an active member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Richmond for over 14 years, and then joined Mount Calvary Baptist Church in 2006 until his passing. Louis leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 50 years Ruby; his precious daughter Stephanie Preston-White (Ralph) of California; grandsons Darius Louis White, Adam Brian White; his pride and joy; brother Johnie (Barbara) of Washington; two wonderful nieces Gracie Preston of Washington and, Nadine Jones of Kansas; cousins Mamie R. Brown and Billie Allen of California; and a dear cousin Lessie Roddy of Arkansas; in addition to 6 sisters-in-law and 10 brothers-in-law. He leaves behind to grieve a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and loving friends. He will be missed by all. Visitation will be March 3, 2011 from 5pm to 7pm at Wilson and Kratzer funeral home in Richmond, California. Services will be held on March 4, 2011 at 11am at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 1735 Enterprise Dr., Building #3, Fairfield, California 94553. (510) 232-4383
